....that's what I'm afraid off, damaging the material.
Been all over town mineral spirits can only get in quart size - way to much to do 1 gatewood cape!
Looking for alternative.
Coleman fuel is basically white gas correct?
I wonder if it is just a matter of using something that thins and evaporates? Could I use house hold rubbing alcohol or finger nail polish remover?
Q: recipe calls for mixing silicone with mineral spirits...is there an alternative to mineral spirits?
Material is silnylon and I don't want to compromise the integrity of the fabric.
...a gram counters wallet is almost always empty any way wallet: pointless - Ziploc baggy....
...and if the season is right - sumok tea!
Gatewood cape... Anyone use them and how was your experience with them? Thinking of using one with a Borah bivy.

Greetings All,
Can the Oregon Trail be hiked?
Or is there really no established routes allowing passage over private lands?
Thanks!
Anyone ever try making jerky using deli meats such as roast beef, London broil, pastrami, meats like that? I realize meats like bologna's are not a good choice.

That'ssupposed to be..."fear retained water..."
I fear retained were in my gravity filter is a potential breeding ground for any viruses and bacteria it has trapped. I do use air in the bladder and roll it through to assist in getting out as much...

Greetings,
In the midst of summer, realizing that geography and weather conditions can sometimes produce a cool night or two, what do you UL'ers use for sleeping bags or quilts?
Thanks in...

Technically I believe according to the fanatical UL'er, base weight would be your pack (empty of course ), shelter, sleeping bag. Total weight of these items to be less than 10 lbs.
My only pet peeve also! That 'goo' is a real PITA!!!
I've read data studies on this and was surprised to read that the researchers found that the bug repellent had teeth punchers in it! Since then I've not used it. When required I put my long sleeve...
I'm in my later 50's, 160lbs (my high school senior wgt) realtively active. I spent 4 months on the AT last year attempting a thru. A couple months ago I had to have a Stent inserted into a main...
This is true according to practically all bear researchers. Reason being that although black bear attacks are even rarer than grizzlies, that data shows that most black bear attacks result in death...
Bear in mind (pun intended ) these are 'deaths' not all attacks result in death. Do they count maulings in the data?
And what about that 'black goo' that builds up along the bottom and sides of the cook pot? How do you deal with that! It gets all over everything!
As an Unemployed migrant, or otherwise indigent, I thought no hospital anywhere could refuse to treat someone. Granted that's for life threatening emergencies. For things like a sore throut, colds,...
