That is pretty interesting. Both my wife and I love our DT socks. We try to get them on sales, but then it is usually $12-$13 a pair.

I have had good luck with my Nemo. It is a good combination of a foam and an air pillow. My wife has the cocoon air pillow that she loves, but it just doesn't work for me. I had a Thermorest foam...
Once or twice a year they will have a Groupon. That is the only "sale" I have seen for it.
Another vote for trekking poles. Both my wife and I have this happen. Poles make it disappear for us.
I have been to two in Atlanta. The first one I got there later in the day and there was just junk. The 2nd time I went and stood in line. Still nothing but junk. I liken it to Black Friday shopping....
I have Vamp 30 sleeping bag by them and no complaints here.
Another vote for the Leatherman Micra w/ sciccors
The dividend is available online as of this morning.
Thanks for the heads up! I hope I can make it.

I live in Atlanta but went down to New Smyrna Beach for vacation this past summer. I wondered if there was an REI near me, maybe Orlando, so I did a store search. Funny thing, the nearest REI to me...

I had to chuckle at this one! Very...
Another vote for Vogel.
One option would be to do a loop hike involving the AT. The Georgia Loop comes to mind. You could park your car at Amicalola State Park and start out on the Approach Trail. Then you could take the AT...
Yes. I had no problems with Verizon this past weekend on the mountain.
They are making a big assumption stating that a person can or will hike an extra 10 miles a day because of lighter equipment.
I just got mine a week or so ago. Thanks SGT Rock, it is very informative!
I just bought the Stoic Somnus a few minutes ago from backcountry. The reviews seem positive and for $150 shipped it may be worth looking into.
I was browsing Golite's clearance page yesterday and they had a Quest pack for $79. Would be worth looking in to.
I am in a similar situation also. Right now I am looking at the Golite Adrenaline bags. The Golite site is have a spring sale where their equipment is 50% off which makes the Adrenaline bag $150.
