There is also an updated version of the Mica. It is the Super Mica. Adds pit vents and maybe a few other changes. Still @ 9oz.

I have the Trailwind and have used it primarily for running. It is superlight of course, packs into its own pocket. I have the hoodless version but for hiking etc I would probably opt for the...
I am looking into getting one, but over at Backpackinglight there are a ton of articles etc.. Highly recommended.

With the minimal security on trains, I would be highly surprised anyone even paid a second glance. Besides not really much different than a cane or crutches... No problems in the past... Worst...
You may also want to check out http://www.bearpawwd.com. I read some good reviews and they are at a very good price point and low weight. I believe he has some freestanding tents in with the tarp...
GoLite does make some nice stuff and I have a few of their products. I was just out in CO and stopped by a few of their stores, tried out the 3 season Adrenaline bag. Very nice bag, but just a...

Thanks. Which quilts have you been using? I haven't ruled those out either, especially since I am more of a stomach sleeper...
I've read through the multitude of posts on sleeping bags, brands, models, temp ratings etc. I am getting back into more dedicated hiking with some planned section hikes this year, initially in and...
Trail runners. Non GoreTex, mesh upper models for breathability and quick drying if wet. Sandals are too susceptible to debris between the toes and under the forefoot etc..
I'm in the same boat and opinions are all over the map. Since money isn't the driving issue I would say go for the 2 person tent. The reason being, buying a 1 person and being cramped would be no...
I haven't used the Epic pant but have other MH shell pants and I like the fit (more athletic) of those vs. the Marmot's. The PreCip is also available in a full zip pant which is extremely...
