I use mason line...super strong super lite....
I took 7 months to hike it and I still didn't see everything I wanted to
I use leaves...works great
Im hiking it this year...thinking about a June hike...should be hot enough to take advantage of all those waterfalls....
Skyline Lodge is open all year....sometimes a caretaker is on duty,if so a small fee will be charged.......nice spot on a hill overlooking Skylight Pond.
I thru hiked with my wife and two of my sons in o6...my wife dropped out in Daleville,but finished as a section hiker last year....I got to rehike NH and Me with her...one of my sons left the trail...

If I was to it again I would start with a 0 degree bag...man it gets cold out there
