as everyone has said, how much or how little you spend totally depends on how you want to hike, and...

personally, unless you are a very careful hiker, I wouldn't recommend the dri ducks for a thru-hike. for one thing, they do rip fairly easily...duct tape only goes so far. also, they got very damp...

i have a dehydrator, so i was actually intending on doing the dehydrating myself, since bulk cornmeal can be gotten for about .50 a pound.

and it will help with clean up because i can rehydrate it in a freezerbag as opposed to having to actually cook it in the pot...or at least that's the theory!

i tend to eat a LOT of corn mush when hiking, but i HATE cleaning the pot afterwards, so for my thruhike, i was wondering if dehydrating cooked polenta would work at all....i can't think of a reason...

the dri ducks are nice for the price...but you have to be CAREFUL around campfires, because they melt really easily...i have a pair with a huge duct tape patch on them thanks to lack of caution...

i think the first clue that they may not quite be cut out for through-hiking is the fact that they're whining about not being able to have sex in the...
