Though we only had a brief chat outside the High Point Visitor's Center 3 weeks ago,
I felt I had met an incredibly wise young soul in the body of an older gentleman
who I would no doubt meet...
i just hiked from Unionville to Culver's Gap this past weekend - the streams were running well, trail angels dropped water at Mashipacong (nearby stream was also running), nobos reported a couple of...
i meant that the rutherford shelter was a little buggy...High Point shelter and Mashipacong were beautiful - no bugs at high point!!!
we did sections 3 and 4 of NJ (Unionville to Culver's Gap) this past weekend - there was
water most everywhere though a little dry from High Point to Mashipacong. There is water at Rutherford...
the new privy was given a 4 star rating from my travel companions and the south bounder (whisper)we met at Mashipacong:
3 stars for having toilet paper and no strong odors, and the 4th star was for...
we stayed at the shelter this past Sunday night - there is a stream within a half mile of the shelter that was noted by a nobo in the
shelter log book...really pleasant stay - not too buggy, only...
a mini oasis:
close to the trail, delicious cold well water, beautiful setting with pond views -

I'm doing my first backpacking trip this week...
whole wheat couscous - (1:1 water ratio) - add boiling water and any sort of add-in like fried fruit, nuts,garlic powder...foil packed chicken...
yep misting, and "reclaimed" moisture at that!
i gave the tent a good spray
and it held up well - thanks for the advice!
can't reschedule (if i could, i would have been out there 2 weeks...
hum, i have a couple hours free this morning:

I can't afford to upgrade my lightweight backpacking tent before a 3day/2 night
trip next week.
My question is should I try to pitch a tarp (I have a 10' x 12' piece of tyvek) over
this cheap tent...
