Adding this shelter to the list of places to check out :)
I'll be on the LT in the area of Rutland/ Wallingford for the entire week of 8/9-15........ Maybe I'll see ya!
Sounds awesome. I can confirm that the spring on hightop mountain is DELICIOUS.
Yeah, my campsite was right next to this spigot...... it has some serious power and blew a nalgene bottle right out of my hand into the pavement..... lol. It bounced right back up though, no cracks.
Made it there Friday at ~930am. Got the only available site.......... a few more became available as people were still checking out....... I got 3 solid days of great hiking on the AT and other...
I'll be there on Friday. Weather looks to be pretty good.
Getting close for me....... leaving Thursday the moment I get out of work (1pm) and heading to Front Royal for the night! Can't wait to be in the forest again.
I'm hoping that these are turned on when I get there next week! If not, I will also survive :)

I'm getting there Friday the 17th as well, really early. I'm staying at a hotel in Front Royal and then hopping onto the drive and getting to the campground as soon as possible........ I'll hold you...
Because the campsites at Lewis Mountain are not able to be reserved, sadly!
Prayers your way!

Anyone know about how full this campground tends to get early in the year? I'm headed down from the 17th-21st of April, hoping I can swoop up a site. I'll get there early Friday morning.
I'm looking forward to April and my annual pilgrimage to Shenadoah National Park. I go by myself every year and get myself reacquainted with warm weather before it actually reaches Ohio. I can't...
I'm in North Royalton! We have been getting the cold this year...........25 is warm!! I am so excited to hear a local hiker is headed to the AT. I'll be in SNP on 4/18 and in VT on the AT/LT in early...
Hey there happy! Fellow Ohioan here! Good luck!!!!!!
I was thinking about this thread earlier. Awesome!
I write for a living so I tend to abandon the pen and paper while I'm in the forest. :)
I always go for an after-dinner hike just to check out the area, maybe some side trails..... then I'll come back to the tent. In the tent..... well I'm usually so tired from the day of hiking that I...
yeah, that's why I asked. Most of us are good natured individuals who are happy to help people we meet....... you can probably say that about any group really though. People are generally decent........
This thread will never dye......... nor do I want it too.
