How about you?
That's the plan!
We should be heading out 7/1 from Denver. Still a little concerned how snow is going to possibly impact the trip. We shall see.
My son and I are starting the CT in July also. We have that exact plan with our Duomid, headnets only. I am finishing a DIY bathtub groundsheet now with no net. Good luck, maybe we will see you on...
Not related to LNT but isn't camping prohibited on top of McAfee Knob.
I use two sites to help determine levels.

I have done that stretch a few times, mainly during the winter months.
Has anyone done a trip through Big Cypress in August? Specifically late August? Other than extreme heat and mosquitoes what else should I plan for. My concern; water too high and no place to camp.
I have a 52L and never use a rain cover. I only use the Litetrail pack liner. Even this summer while hiking in downpours there was no water breach. It is a great pack.
And he breaks the Baxter Park Regulations of no alcohol. . . .

Use Mountain Harbor to park. I would not leave a car at 19e.
I have a 30 deg Revelation. I just used it on a section in NC. Worked great! We had temps in the low 50's. Quilts are versatile due to the fact they are so easy to vent. One night I had the foot box...
Thanks for the input. Received delivery of my Hogback today. Appears to be a quality piece of equipment, but that is what I expected from Tarptent. I had them seam seal it for me which for me is a no...
My two oldest, 13 and 15, will be joining me this summer on the Georgia section of the AT. I was thinking about pulling the trigger on the Hogback and just taking it. We would usually carry a Kelty...
Thanks I have watched the video. It really shows the ease of setup and the roominess of the Hogback.
I guess my question should be what have other large families used on overnight or weekend trips.
I have a family of 6 including 2 teenagers, a preteen and a toddler. While the whole family does not go every time I would like to get a lightweight 4 person tent to combine with my other shelters....
I did sams gap to 19e a little over 70 miles I believe. We took 2 days to get from Sams gap to Uncle Johnny's which required one long day. But the route hits big bald, beauty spot, Unaka Mountain...
One of the most beautiful places I have hiked. Did Sam's Gap to 19E and stayed at Mountain Harbour in the hostel. The Roan Mountains are amazing, especially if the weather cooperates and gives you...

While the average temps seem mild. Due to humidity it can feel pretty cold at night in winter. It also fluctuates quite a bit. For this reason I like to use quilts. I typically use a 30 degree quilt...
I hear this all the time. I have probably seen a hundred and have never been chased/attacked. They are quick to stand their ground and defend more than others. The term cotton mouth is from their...
I hike and backpack on the Florida Trail from Miami up to Jupiter. Very different than the AT which I have hiked sections. In the southern sections (Big Cypress) you will hike through swamps....
