Thanks guys, this is too funny and much needed laughs for Monday.
I'm an avid day hiker, trail runner, love the outdoors, blah, blah, blah....so I took the test.
NOT only do I have no hiking...
You said period in the women's forum. We so don't want to go there. ;)
Actually, I find intimacy on the trail to be an oxymoron, like happily married or fun run..and I ain't goin' there either. :)
This past Monday Romie and I were during our usual hike north on the Gathland section of the AT and this is what we saw,

There was a thread started about a month ago by swheeler05 on the same topic. Sorry, don't know how to link to it. John Mackey, CEO of whole foods, completed a thru-hike as a vegan, others have, too....
Hi Samantha, welcome!
John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, is a vegan and thru-hiked the AT...of course it helped he had ready & ample access to good stuff. I remember reading an account of his thru on...
So only ID and misc clothes were found, no body and no wreckage? Wouldn't this give credence to the assumption he survived the crash and left on his own to try and walk out? Wouldn't there be some...
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing...
Hell yeah she rocks!! Great advice, kind and an inspiration. Class act. :)
Nature, if you're ever in MD and want to hike (weekends are great) let me know. I'd be glad to go with you...have hiked all the AT in MD and know the area pretty well.

In our local paper this morning. I had no idea the first day of summer is always naked hiking day. The funniest part is...
So is it true it takes 2 wks to acclimate to the heat? I seem to remember that from my running days. Programbo, I noticed the downed trees/limbs on the Gathland section on Friday...was a nasty...
Yup. The newspaper here said we experienced a "gustnado" a gusty strong wind that precedes a tornado, never heard of that before, had to google it. Did a few hrs on the Gathland portion of the AT...
Tessa is so cute! She's got the right mix of breeds to be a great hiking dog...thanks for giving her a good home, and keep us updated on her. :)
Congrats Jaybird-- she's an angel! Don't fret the jaundice, all 3 of mine had it, she just needs a little sun and her bili level will drop. Will keep her in thoughts and prayers.
All the best...
Romie and I (and whatever victim we can cajole to go with us) will be out section hiking the AT in Maryland...may go north of the MDPenn line for variety and rocks...I actually like climbing and...
If you mix it up good with a blender, add butter and a little salt, you can pass it off as a low-cal version of mashed potatoes...I have done this and no one suspected a thing.
mudhead, you're a...
Sounds like fun. I'm too lazy to look it up, where does the AT cross the BRP? What state? Close to what city? Thanks.
one reader commented "should have used bug repellent" but honestly, is there a repellent that could have thwarted that angry mass?
doggiebag, you could bee a comedian...funny honey, you...
Met "Oly" (a retired chemist out of St Louis, MO) at Gathland this morning. He left HP yesterday and hopes to make Maine by Labor Day. He completed the Springer to HP section in '04. What a great...
As is often the case, I didn't realize how much crap my mom had to put up with until after I left home and had my own kids...then I realized how smart, funny and hip she was long before her time. A...
Is he heading north or south on the AT? I'm on the MD portion 3-4x a week and almost every weekend, so I'll keep an eye out for him.
I agree, his "Brief History..." was really good. "Notes from a Small Island" is one of my favs from him. He wrote about living in Great Britain (I think his wife is British) and nailed it perfectly....
Not surprising at all. The list is all restaurant and fast-food fare. Yup, don't pass the salt, please. Just reading it makes me feel thirsty.
It's not too hard to prepare delicious, healthy...
Interesting, but certainly not new. I know of a few "barefooters" in the running community. Abebe Bikila won the 1960 Olympics marathon running without shoes. I love the feeling of beach sand on...
