If you are considering a SOBO hike, you don't have to leave right away. You could rest your foot another week, at least, before deciding if your foot is good to go.
I've found the Etowah alcohol stove to be a good one. It works well down to single digits, without sleeping with the stove or fuel. It will boil a liter of water, and maybe more - I never needed...
Tesla? Really? It would appear that some people's understanding of music is about as deep as their understanding of morality.
Great place. Great people. Really enjoyed my stay.
Still waiting for reply to my PM
I 'm interested. PM sent
Now that you are a non hiker, Mr No Pain, are you going to spend every day replying to every thread on Whiteblaze?
Enjoy your month off. You sure earned it. Have a great hike.
I had a very nice stay there. I hope to stay there again.
Absolutely not. Go Navy.
That's a relief Fog Horn. lol
SGT I would thank you for your service, as I often do when I see a vet, but I have noticed it often makes vets uncomfortable when I do so. So I won't say thanks, I...
Sorry Fog Horn, but I just gotta ask. You are a girl.....right?

When I brought prescription antibiotics on the trail I pealed the label off the bottle and stuck it on the ziplock I carried them in.
Great post BigHodag.
A lightweight chair would be nice at times when you are sitting in it, but not at times when you are carrying it.
Sorry I missed that Rain Man.
I posted this before and got no answer....
Anybody who hiked the whole AT while carrying, please share with me why it was a good idea and why you would do it again.
I have a concealed carry permit and I completely agree with Rainman on this one.
I have a Coleman Inyo2 that I got at an outlet store for my 02 hike.
If I had to spend a night in high winds, I would prefer it over the Big Agnes SL1 I upgraded to in 07.
I shave about a half inch of pepperoni into the salted water as I bring it to a boil for my grits. I use the blue label box, as I don't care for the price or texture of those grits that come in...
I carry a debit card and get cash back when resupplying at the grocers. In a pinch, you can get cash back with a debit card purchase at any post office, although they may not have much cash on hand...
Re-reading the post, the OP mentions the bottoms. I was referring to the tops.
My rain suit I use while in the rain, not hiking. Warmer rains I hike in polypro short sleeve shirt and shorts.
I found the heavier underarmor to be the best thing to wear while hiking in a cold rain.
It almost seems like a thin wetsuit.
The only thing drier than that feed is the wit on this thread.
