Hah! This looks PERFECT! I could use the Ruck not as a finish, but as a warm-up! Fresh trail intel, Tuckerization (which, of course, should *not* be needed, right? {"Yikes!"}, BEAR updates. (Been so...
Teej!
So (by the paucity of your answer), might I then surmise that there *is* no PA Ruck or GA Ruck or huckychucky Ruck at all? Wah!
Dipping my toe back into the backpacking waters (y'know -- the torrents during a good rain...), and I'm wondering where to go for any info on a PA or GA Ruck for 2022. Contemplating a 2-3 week hike,...
My screen and keyboard are so much cleaner now.... Given that I just snorted my coffee all over them, and had to wipe them down.....
(Heee hee hee -- still[!] laughing....)

A great article on where global warming meets some of our wildlife icons -- "right where they live."...
You do the same thing you'd do on the AT -- or anywhere else that humans have explored over the last 2.5 *million* years.
1) You don't complain, whine, carp or quit.
2) You patently refuse to call...
Well, you are arguing.
It's not my fault, nor is it the KT's, that you walked by water. Check the URL.
It leaves me curious as to what do you do on the AT when you come to a water source that...
I've hiked it for 20 years in 4 seasons, and never needed to pack more than 2 liters before coming upon more water, right where it's listed. It's fashionable to describe the KT as "dry" and "caching...
The KT very much resembles the roller-coaster of the mid-Atlantic AT, so:
1) it will be as dry as the AT when things are dry: no more, no less. Lots of people cache water, but there is no need....
The message on Mileage Data from 2010 still works.
Have fun!

Actually, if you click on my "Images" button, the one pick there is of that flat spot mentioned in the thread, with me just below, and my kids leaning over...
Cracks me up...!
It's hilarious to see this thread so enthusiastically (grimly?!? "Yipes!") re-visited.
I can tell you that 40 years after my AT through-hike, and 16 years after having done Killington-Pinkham with...
Thank you all for the informative answers.
There is a question, Kinnickinic, as to whether we will actually hit Mt. Rogers now or not. The Party Of Two will be yours truly, and a rank neophyte --...
Treat your water with "R E S P E C T" and leave the rest of it at home.
Hey all!
Thinking about heading out to Mt. Rogers in a week or so, and having never been there this time of year, AND Indiana's having had a bit of a drought July after a wet June -- leaves me...
Interesting. That means that you walked past, through, or over, 21 of 22 water sources on the KT. That's a power, man -- not sure what *sort* of power -- but you got it going on in spades.
(Now...
Good luck on your hike, GOEZ -- at this point, you should have plenty of water [!!!], but some of those stream crossings could get you might wet, between the sharp current and mud... Wish I was out...
Wow! These data were compiled 9 years ago! SHEEESH. But, they're all still solid, in 2010.

1) None to date. Shuttles in general in the KT/Salem area are hard[/impossible] to come by. You've got to "bring your own." There are meet-up groups (meetup.com? .org?) in Cinn., Indy, and L'ville...
My best guess right now is that I will have a two week window to hike, from roughly January 1 to the January 15 weekend (which weekend corresponds to the SoRuck...

Hey boys and girls!
A buddy of mine (who goes 9.5 on the whole 50 mile KT) has set a date of December 12/13 to double it -- a "Katy-Katy" as he's called it. I'm going to crew, and there will be...
I'm going to connect to this thread, as I'm considering Thanksgiving stuff right now... Parents recently moved to Charlotte, and Geee Willikers! I have to cross Davenport Gap to get there... Hmmmm.
Seriously considering this.
The big consideration, oddly enough, is to *find* "crowd" -- or not?
Will the AT -- especially Georgia (April 79, September 93, December/NYE 03) -- become ...... less...
Really the steepest? Not the gnarliest, as per the thread, but I can recall a couple of pieces like this:
