enjoy your time to yourself. If something happens... hey!
There's a product called "Glide" that you can use. I'm told by a former thru hiker that never got a blister while using.
The cold, wet, miserable days you write about remind me of the army. Oh how I wish I'd joined the Navy or Air Force. With that, I'm going to push my way through this hike at my own pace. I ant to...
It's cold out there. Be safe and use your head. I've seen where some are averaging 8+ miles a day since starting in the snow and ice. God bless you. That kind of inner strength is immeasurable
This thread reminds me of when I moved to Queens, New York in 1987 from a small country town in Maryland. A panhandler looked me dead in the eyes and said, "can you spare a dollar? I got my 50 acres...

Hikehunter, I thought there was 28 days in February :) ..... For those who can master the cold... God bless you. Me, I'd rather sweat than freeze. I'm starting mid March. Safe journey all.
Everyone has an opinion and you shouldn't take to heart. My opinion is: Get out of your head. Don't over think the hike and psyche yourself out. You will make it, one step at a time.
My personal preference: Wireless, motion detecting cameras . The system I have sends videos to my phone. So, if someone breaks in Ive recorded the whole event. Other good thing.... The recording go...
I agree with Pic N. I'm 50 something, 6'6" and my feeling is play on the safe side. Get to know people on the trail and move in packs when going off the trail. There are good people out there.........
At 6'6" 285 lbs..... I've been accused of being as big as a bear. Please don't spray, shoot, or startle me. I'm an old bear..... doing Ga to Maine. I may be cay yin a Pic-A-Nic basket

Pot epidemic? Hmmmmmm
Logistically you've got some work to do. I'm hiking and camping the whole trail for the first time so I don't know how far you need to hike each day to find a hotel room. Figuring the cost of 30 days...
