Gender bias on the trail?
Yea try getting a hitch as a solo male vs female [emoji23]
I did get turned away from an establishment on my AT thru because there was “a private party” yet they still...
Also have a fear of heights, after about a month on the trail I became “numb” to my fears. To tired too fearful, ain’t nobody got time for that! Heights, bears, snakes, whatever just didn’t bother me....
Yep and I did SNP in 3.5 days so I felt like everywhere I turned there was a dang bear

Honestly I had one night in Mass sleeping in a shelter that mosquitos were bad other than that I never felt the need for head net or bug spray. But I am from Louisiana so.. my definition of buggy is...
Did not need for my thru. Started with a homemade poly rain kilt and ditched it by the Smokies. Quick drying running shorts were good enough for me

Didn’t see the first one until I was leaving out of Erwin,TN. Lost count but I would say somewhere between 30-40, for my thru. As a deer hunter, I’ve seen more in one morning sit in South Texas then...
2016 I started April 18. It was pretty busy! 18 of us were dropped off from the hiker hostel that am. Most shelters filling up, especially if rainy. But found a good group and hiked solid miles to...
There’s many things you could drop but nothing over the top, you’ll decide to get rid of them as you go.
You can definitely drop weight on food. I found most people don’t eat 2lbs of food starting...
That climb is tough but after that it is smooth sailing I remember doing a pretty big day out of Outerbridge. If you took it easy on the climb and started early the 23.5 should be doable.

I didn’t have to hitch once for a resupply until Great Barrington, Mass. and I really could have skipped it.
Sort of misleading there were times before then I got to town by staying somewhere that...
Shenandoah, cause it’s beautiful, has a lot of wildlife, waysides allow you to carry little food weight and also one of the easiest stretches and I’m not in thru hiker shape anymore [emoji23]
...
Enjoy them and take it slow.
Whites kicked my butt but I also got a stomach bug and/or food poisoning while in that section.
I tried to eat as much as I could at every hit I came across, that...
Food.
I couldn’t control the hiker hunger (I don’t think you can actually control it on a they but still) and had trouble fueling for bigger miles towards the end.

Do longer trips and you won’t be able to smell it anymore...
For real though I got pretty stinky a few times on my thru. Quick bathes and trying to hand wash clothes only goes so far. Sometimes...
Used both on my thru. Phones die, even when you have a backup battery..ish happens.
Guthook is preferred, user comments give you more up to date insight to upcoming towns, water sources etc. but...
That's going to be well over 30-35 with food water. ALOT of things you won't need. Too much clothes, etc. but you'll have to learn most of this your self.
I would list everything I would ditch but...
Prepaid debit card worked for me well..reload as needed.
Good bit of Thrus get there card info stolen, atleast in 2016 it happened to a few of us. Have multiple options to access $.

I think your good for the start, you'll def drop some of that.
No need for beanie and bandana when you got a hoodie and a buff.
Can also drop gloves, with three pairs of socks if you really needed...
You'll get varied answers but IMO, you don't
Put job duration to YR not M/YR
Use it when you can in answer "describe a time when" questions in and interview then you can say it was 5 months out...
Point is what are you really going to carry? Other than a few little bandaids and Advil?
Everybody carries to much
I.E.I needed cold medicine, not a huge deal I could tough it out until town. Turns...
A good jacket has the added benefit of being a wind blocker and can also warm you up if you wear periodically when hiking, reducing need to carry a puffy if temps aren't that cold.
Marmot precious...
Myself bought myself a GG Kumo
