Oh, good, that's what I thought. For a minute there I was wondering if Jetboil had a model out that I hadn't heard of.
I don't know if anyone saw it, but I have a comparison chart on my blog...
There can be issues. You should be all right if you just stick to 100% water. No noodles, soups, chowders, stews, etc. No melting snow.
I've seen a number of them with separated heat...
Connie is correct based on what I've seen. Here's a photo comparing (left to right) an MSR Windboiler pot (1.0 L), a Jetboil Sol pot (0.8 L), and a Jetboil MiniMo pot (1.0L)....
Yep. It will do that. The regulator valve has been called the "cruise control" of stoves. As the canister cools, it loses pressure. The regulator can open up and allow more pressure through,...
$120 is a good price. Full retail is $150.

Well, yes, but you could also leave those components behind on the Zip. On my scale, the difference was about 2.2 ounces in an apples-to-apples comparison. But whatever. The marketplace appears...
Connie, the Jetboil Zip is 0.8L. Do you mean the Jetboil Sumo? The Sumo is 1.8 L. There is also a GCS Pot that is 1.5 L, maybe that's what you have?
Hmm. Well, color me sceptical on that one....
Hmm. Well of course what we now consider to be the "standard threaded canister format" was developed by Epigas in Great Britain before Camping Gaz came out with their format. Camping Gaz developed...
Most modern canister gas backpacking stoves available in the US use a Lindal valve style canister with a 7/16 UNEF threaded connector. However, some Camping Gaz stoves are still available. They use...
If it's a Sol that you're wanting, then yeah you'd best be about the business of buying it now. Jetboil has removed the Sol pages from their site which essentially makes it official.
HJ
I don't believe the Sol line is being discontinued due to customer complaints. If that were true, then they'd only discontinue the Ti version but keep the aluminum version.
What killed the Sol...
A lot of people have said that. I'm sure MSR is aware of that. If you see my "Recommendations for improvement" in Appendix IV of the review, I made that very recommendation.
HOWEVER, take a look...
And realize that things like water temperature and elevation are going to affect those numbers.

Number of 500 ml boils per 100g or 110g sized canister.
HJ
Sorry buddy, can't help you there. I'm a stove blogger, not a magician. :)
HJ
Well, it depends on whether you run it on max 50%, or about 33%. I'll give you a number for each of those for a 100g canister, which is approximate: 19, 21, 22. Something like that. Maybe one...
No, quite the opposite. The Windboiler is more efficient. In windy conditions, not only is the Windboiler more efficient, it's also faster.

If anyone is interested, I have completed a review of the new MSR Windboiler.

If anyone is interested, I've got a fairly in depth look at the features of the Windboiler on my blog: MSR Windboiler -- First Look.
...
The new Windboiler does have a over heating safety system in place but it is field resettable.

They're still selling CV270 and CV470 at a sporting good store near me (Big 5), but I see it less and less in my area. REI has stopped.
There are adaptors that one can buy, but you don't see them...
Thanks, Rob, you make a good video by the way. You come across well.
A very impressive set up in terms of weight. Less than one ounce of "overhead". Very nice.
The fuel port in the FireFly is a...
Yeah, alcohol actually might harm the seals and such. Not recommended.
White gas or kerosene are both good fuels, but you do have to swap out the jet. There should be two different jets, one...
If I may ask, what's the advantage of the corrugated over plain? I have several different plain ones, and they seem to fold and/or roll well.
