Quick review, at Costco they are selling a 60x72 700 fill down blanket. I sorry I don't have my postal scale put very light. 4x4 squares stitched through. Would make a nice summer quilt. Probably...

I love down, and use it from time to time. However, I feel on the AT were it is mostly damp, synthetic wins out in my pack. Yes heavier, yes bulkier. But it will always be warm and dry quicker.
When you give your hiking boots blisters
The Hotel Doyle! That's the only place I stayed were I treated my water. Great food and owners though. Not a place for someone looking for hotel qualities.
The two posters gave some good info. The hut to hut, and New England area is loaded with b&b's and hotels. Pa your not likely to find a hotel. Motel yes but seedy.
You want cheap, try Costco. They have been pumping out all types of down garments lately. Won't be 900 or even 800 down, but will get the job done
Sierra trading has them at $79. Minus 35 percent Facebook discount
Well never mind. Golite has already sold out of them
I was going to buy a precip but now looking at the tumalo. The later is lighter but i have no experience with either. Has anyone had both at one time or another for some feedback? Thanks!
Better luck posting at the hammock forum web site.
Just got an email from Golite. Their going out of business closing all stores and online. Bankruptcy selling everything for 20 percent off.
Aquone hostel was one of the finest, cleanest, newest hostel I've ever stayed in. Must stop. They ala cart you to death but that's your choice.
That's all I wear. I find the toe area more roomier than others.
Dogwood, good idea on meeting her in millinocket. We'll stay in that town get shuttle to trail, then when done get shuttle back to millinocket From Baxter
I am in the same scenario as op. My my girlfriend wants to summit with me what trailhead should I "TRY" to reserve for that? Getting there at seven is ridiculous btw. At least give a two hour window....
Well said, cabelas!
I set up trail magic this past Friday at the nj/ pa border ( Delaware water gap). We had only 7 hikers come thru. They all said I was 2-3 weeks to early yet.
Setting up some trail magic at the Delaware water gap hope to see some thrus
My girlfriend and I plan on setting up some trail magic this Saturday at the Delaware water gap right after the bridge jersey side. I hope there will be a good amount of hikers coming through.
Get the flick locks as opposed to the twists. Especially if you use them for your shelter.
Find a layering system that works for you. Go on short hikes in different climate situations. Eventually you will find your favorites and go to's. Then try to improve in quality and weight.
