Yes, you were with me a few weeks ago, but who was hiking and who was heading to his cabin to drink some bourbon?
As far as my smart phone goes; a girl with a nice Australian accent says, "Stumpy,...
Came back to the computer and took a second test. Got 20,460 on it.
The guy that could ace this thing would be Weathercarrot.
First try was 20,310.
Lots of options to thru hike the FL Trail.
I did a 180 mile approach trail to the actual beginning of the FL Trail the first time by starting at Key West. That was interesting and I liked it,...
I've always used a tent along the FL Trail and really haven't paid much attention to places for a hammock. I think you might be okay hanging a hammock most nights.
The canals in south FL might be...
I get my best sleep of the whole year in winter.
I usually only sleep 12 hours, even though there is about 14 hours of dark.
I wake up a couple hours before daylight, roll over, brew coffee...
I had a 2001 Wanderlust Nomad 2-4-2 tent that got a lot of use.
I really enjoyed that tent...so much so that I kept it way longer than I should have.
The silnylon eventually got very thin and...
I will give you my experience with shoe size and hiking since no one answered you.
My feet are the same size now as they were when I started my long walks.
I have worn road running shoes probably...
fishing? funny
You surprised me with your answer and I was happy to see it.
That's exactly what I've been carrying for a couple years...an EE 20 degree down quilt and an EE 50 degree synthetic quilt.
I often...
Perfect! :)
I'm very bad at making my point...but my point was that your view encompassed everyone's view when you said "Officially if completed in year, it's a thru. In the spirit, if it's 2 (or more) 'separate...
I don't agree with you at all. The "In the spirit, if it's 2 (or more) 'separate stints' it is not." is your own thought.
Read what Laurie posted above and you will not find your idea of a thru...
Have at it and enjoy. Mother Nature will let you know what you can do.
My only suggestion to someone with your experience would be to carry paper maps, along with your electronic maps, at least...
I like starting sobo late. Bugs will be less of a problem and you will be past the nobo's by VT or so.
I always carry a 20 degree quilt with me in 3 seasons. There are plenty of times I am glad...
Hope this works;

This is the entire family's summit photo at tree line.
Real classy...
No...you're not nuts for considering the possibility.
It's seems it was a very "timed" and vague post by BSP the other day which could have easily been cleared up by the OP. (or maybe the OP didn't...
Pretty sure that's the thread where Rockit Mann was trying to figure out if Teej had any affiliation with BSP or the ATC.
The thread seems to have disappeared.
That's too bad the thread...
Well, there you go. Nothing wrong with your reading comprehension.
You quickly figured out my top three choices.
Yep, there are now eight new thru hikers that followed the rules.
Rainier enjoyed what trail was open to him.
You, of all people here, must be thrilled.
Well, there may be about 90% of other...
Sounds like there are eight new thru hikers as of today according to a post on FB from BSP.
What an amazing adventure for this family!!
By far the most remarkable hike ever of the AT that I am...
What does it matter whether you call yourself a thru hiker or a section hiker.
If you've walked the entire AT, that's a good walk.
It seems the ATC doesn't care that much either.
This was...
I'm not sure what the ATC's stance is on this, but the people that string together multiple section hikes to complete the trail are the ones that I admire most.
I met a couple of hikers that did...
Not the slowest thru hike, but the slowest thru hike for me that had me walking the whole trail in under one year.
Started on May 1st, 2004 and finished on April 20, 2005.
Took a little time off...
