Awesome, thanks for the info. I've heard of Declathon.
Anyone here have any info regarding IAT Spain? I'm looking for a pre-AT 2022 hike in Jan/Feb 2022.
Main things I want to know is about camping/pitching tent, ability to find fuel canisters...and...
Trail Name: TBD though it was suggested "off grid" on my 2019 attempt
Direction/Start Location NOBO
Estimated Start Date March 26
Approach Trail - yes
My 2nd AT thru attempt in March 2020 will be a slower start. I went too fast out of the gate, and yet I knew going into it I should have started slow. Had so much adrenaline then.
I have a Marmot Tungsten 2P UL that I’d be interested in selling. Used a dozen times, great condition.
Have the footprint as well, never used.
Nina - no trail name yet
NOBO
Apr 3
Undecided
Love my Bot...both for cooking and cold soaking.
I’ll be NOBO from HF around May 1. Not sure if I’ll take in the flip flop festival days before. Perhaps we’ll run into each other
Seems odd that Canadian debit card wouldn’t be accepted. My debit card has worked in both The US and China...never a problem.
Interesting...regarding the rods. I’ll be setting up today, and if a PITA like you’ve said, may do the same removing.
Awesome! Ty.
Two years ago, I thought my 1700g tent setup was light...but the Plexamid is only 420g...plus 10 Ti stakes.
My Zpacks Plexamid came in yesterday. Have watched the setup video which looks super easy compared to my previous tent.
Any tips for maintaining this tent?
My previous tent was a Marmot Tungsten...
I’ve bought two pairs online from Altra. Fortunately, I’ve not had to deal with customer service. As for the runners, love them. I have a high arch, flat feet and wide feet, so these have been...
*can’t imagine
I’m in a Facebook AT group, and the post was asking who was hiking with their dog. Out of 44 comments, six were starting at Amicalola with their pooch.
While I love dogs, I can imagine the logistics...
I have a Plexamid on order as well.
☺️
Ordered the Zpacks Plexamid today. Total weight of tent + stakes is 482g.
So weight savings on tent is 1200g.
No doubt, but once I’ve received it, going to take out with me on some backwoods overnighters to test it.
Also thinking I have time to re-evaluate my tent situation. Current tent setup is 1643g...
After reading post after post, viewing videos and comparing canisters, I decided to bite the bullet and buy the Bearikade Wilderness.
I live in a remote, off-grid area where I not only backpack,...
Thank you so much everyone for the thoughtful suggestions. I appreciate all the suggestions. Lots to think about.
☺️
My comment about being off grid probably doesn’t mean much without some context.
To start a thru NOBO, I had originally planned for mid March. Hubby and I had thought about driving to Georgia. For...
I should have added, what appeals to me as I tend to hike alone, is missing the bubble, overcrowded shelters and hostels.
I searched the topics, didn’t see a “flip flop vs. Thru,” so I have a question. In asking this question, I fully expect “HYOH,” “no one cares,” “ worry about the trail, not others.”
For a year, I...
My last months bill was $22.54 C$ for the Freedom Safety Plan. I’m on a month to month.
Not that this was asked, but also added the $20 Search and Rescue feature which covers evacuation costs up to...
I undersrand about the 100’ away from your tent. How easy is it to maintain that distance on the AT when you have a dozen or more other hikers at the same site? Obviously not everyone would have a...
