Slo-go'en most of the time I agree with you but not knowing anything about the OP's experience or fitness it might be prudent to at least begin the attempted thru hike with a buddy or buddies.Quote:

Back in February there was a solo hiker that died on the approach trail . I could not find out whether or not it was due to hypothermia or some other medical condition. At least in that situation a hiking companion might have saved a life.
