After fifteen years of section hiking on the AT, tomorrow I start the final 800 mile section from Bear Mountain in New York to Mt Katahdin in Maine. Hoping.to finish in about two months. Really looking forward to starting my hike!

Great that you have around 400 miles of NY, CT, MA, and VT to get your trail legs before you hit NH and ME.
Enjoy it, great feeling as a section hiker when you finally get to finish at Katahdin.
St. John's Ledges in Connecticut will provide you with a brief taste of New Hampshire.
Great view from Riga shelter in Conn. Water usually running from stream nearby.
If I remember right you are rewarded by a level walk along a river after that.Quote:
