As Stacy mentioned, we are prepping for another trail. Even I have to admit that this is a trail that I am not as prepared for. I learned and prepared for the AT for almost three complete years before setting out for it. The Florida Trail, I know a little about, but not as much as the AT. The FT will be different, and my experience in Florida will be helpful however. Florida was my home prior to her and I's recent moving around the country. I know personally from my experience there that my knee is better off in Florida on that trail. I am surprised by so many negative comments that I read on the trail to be honest. Just because a trail does not have a mountain, it does not mean that it isn't scenic. To me, the beaches in the beginning, palm trees, and even the swamps are as scenic as it gets. Hiking 140 miles around a lake is pretty nice as well. Forget what they are saying, it will be great to stealth camp near the water and "spend an evening" with my woman... When it comes to this decision, I admit that us being unprepared is dangerous. However, we had already gotten rid of everything we had to go and do the AT. We literally have nowhere to go BUT to continue following this dream. We are not ready to give up yet. Many of you leave your homes to be maintained when you hike...we did not....we left and intended on looking for new housing and jobs FOLLOWING the trail. This injury will hold up and we WILL be ok...There is so much more to this story that I will tell you folks throughout this journey. She is sparing you of those details, but eventually, we will give them to you. This trail is definitely NEEDED and for many more reasons than just our dream. Let's just say that she is STILL seeking redemption.
I never expected us to end up back in Florida, but considering that is where we met, it is kind of poetic. I look forward to this journey and so does she. Granted, we will have a LOT LESS resources than we did on the AT, but it doesn't matter. We will persevere and make it through it.
I agree with Redemption that we are stronger as a team and that's what will get us through many of these issues. This is NOT a vacation for us...this is LIFE for us...This is the LIFE that we have chosen...This is the LIFE that LIFE has chosen for us....
I love you TOO Redemption... BTW: There are many more swamps and gators that you will see than them BEACHES that you speak of Ever make love to a Water Moccasin? LOL
