Internal frame or none at all ?

Rate this Entry
For a long time I have always hiked with a internal frame pack. Are there advantages to not have a internal frame pack and just a "soft" pack. Will it make a difference to the extent of long distance ?

The purpose of a frame is to help transfer weight from your shoulders to your hips. If your pack is heavier than 20 lbs with food and water, I'd keep the frame. Otherwise too much strain on your shoulders and back could get pretty uncomfortable pretty quickly.
