  1. 31 March 2010

31 March 2010, Winding Stair Gap
I did another big mile day today, 12.2. At this time I currently consider anything over 11 miles a big mile day.

Went over Albert Mountain today and climbed the fire tower only to find the top closed off and locked. While I was up there a hound dog came to the fire tower with a radio collar on. I tried to get it to come close to me but wouldn’t. Chef came by before I left. I ended up hiking the rest of the day with him. He got his ...

  2. 30 March 2010

29 March 2010, Betty Creek Gap
I was a little upset t myself today. I missed the side trail to Standing Indian Mountain. I did not see an sign for it. There will be plenty of more overlooks on this trip so I will not fret to hard over missing this one.

There was the smell of a skunk all through the air while walking today. I believe it was the ivy type plant growing on the ground but I am not sure. I looked around but could not find anything else it could have been ...

  3. 29 March 2010

29 March 2010, Muskrat Creek Shelter
I got started late this morning. The shuttle left late. My start time was around 9:45. I arrived at the shelter around 4 pm.

For me this seemed to be the hardest day so far. The day was overcast all day. I passed a lot of places that were great views but I just could not see anything because of the overcast. It is suppose to rain tonight and the temps are already pretty darn cold. I took my pain killers and a sleeping pill a little ...

  4. Should used Aqua Mira

Hiked from Bear's Den Hostel to Rod Hollow and back. The "Roller Coaster" was hard and so was the water I drank..... without a filter!!! That title is a good representation of how my gut feels. My "mountain top high" was minimized to a "Johnny squat low". How long does the "G.... " water virus last?

  5. trying to beat the recession

My friends(chris and eric) and i are trying to start a hiking tour company here in Va. We figure with all those stressed out people living in D.C and Baltimore, that maybe we can help provide a "public serv." by getting these people re-intouced with nature and draw awareness to how beautiful the outdoors are and the importance of keeping them that way.

Anyone with suggetions please feel free to e-mail me at : [email protected]

    thanks Robert (bobby blaze)schultz ...
