On the trip back from Jacksonville last week I, for the most part, followed the same route that John Muir took across the state to reach Cedar Key and the Gulf of Mexico. This is mainly a test post to better understand WhiteBlaze.

I've been 'planning' for years. Now that I am retired, I'm getting serious and doing more research and buying for my 2017 hike. And I have increased my frequency and duration of exercise. That really seems to have made a difference on how I feel when getting out of bed in the morning. No creaky joints, etc. Soon will be taking test day and overnight hikes with equipment.

The trip to Jacksonville and REI was fruitful. I was able to add to my gear list and my comfort level with my kit is good. My confidence in my preparation is such that I feel as long as I am moving forward I am making progress. I have two months until I step off and I am certain that I will be prepared physically, as well as, having the right gear, and logistical support to be successful.

I've been training everyday trying to get those muscles ready to carry me and all of my gear across the eastern side of of the U.S. from Georgia to Maine. I'm feeling tough and strong, and I can't wait to put myself to the ultimate test.
