It's a great section coming up once on top of Roan Knob. The only sucky spot is the mile or so after 19E until the church.

This is AT related. There's an Audie Murphy movie on TCM right now (and it's not a war movie).
In honor of Oz, I will post this celebration post of completing my AT cyber-hike of WB! :sun
I am know completing the AT will be a lot more work, but this has been fun too.
Congrats on completing your AT cyber hike! ( where's that whoopie cushion?) :banana :banana
He is not a real cyber-hiker without doing the approach trail!

What's Uncle Johnnys like?
I've been there Rasty. It's pretty nice. I stuck by head in the "bunk" room. It was kinda dark and "dungeon like" so we decided to rent a cabin instead. It was the BEST!! We rode bikes while we here there too! :) It was fun! Right as we were coming into Uncle Johnny's we encountered a "lady hiker" at the last shelter. She had "issues". :) Folks at Uncle Johnny's was really helpful to her. I was impressed. The guy that shuttled us into town seem "burned out"... but he was nice to us! :) I never saw Uncle Johnny himself.
Hi, cafe! Hi, Milkman!
Just checking in briefly from Erwin because I've been seeing Hikerboy all over the place, including yesterday on a bike! Hi, Hikerboy! You're a machine! :)
Anyway, still here. Packing up to get back out there.
HI Karma! loving your blog!
I installed volume control in the cafe last week!
I thought you'd done something with your hair. So cute!

There are some good bikes. Try before you rent as some are better than others. The Creeper has such a gentle incline, you can ride to the top and then coast down. Good swimming holes, too.
+1 on the Creeper Trail. Coasting downhill is the way to go! I hit a bump at the end of a bridge and flew off my bike but other than that is was a good time! :)

You'll sin again when you hit Damascus. The Virginia Creeper trail shares the AT for a pretty good stretch. Rental shops with good bikes all over the place :p
I've been thinking about bringing my mtn bike, Put a few miles on the Creeper trail.....just to say I Did!
Oh, and I work in the basement, too...:banana

I don't get the fixation with chicken breasts. The worst part of the whole bird if you don't count the gizzard.
You may be a Chef, but I gotta disagree on that one. I will definitely take the breast over any other piece of chicken!

All too often, especially in large chain restaurants and corporate cafeterias, I find myself being served this dry, flavorless, unpalatable brick that they euphemistically refer to as "skinless boneless chicken breast" I'm still not sure what it is or where they obtain such a substance, but I can tell you that it certainly does not come from any animal known as a chicken, at least in the traditional sense of the word.

It's overcooked because it's 100% contaminated with salmonella so cooks cook it to 165 degrees which dries it out.

I just found some sort of dehydrated cheesecake my daughter and I will give a shot in a couple of weeks. She was more entranced with the can of self-heating coffee. I warned her about the weight. She claims it's for the first morning and sometimes the weight is worth it. I did pick up a couple of dehydrated coffee and hot chocolate packs (almost pitchers, but foil) to give a try to, as well. May not be any good, but hey, worth an experiment.
