LDog Bill Garlinghouse 2015 March 20, 2012 August 28, 2015 On March 20, 2012 I started up the approach trail to Springer Mountain, then headed northbound (nobo) to Katahdin. I had to get off the trail at Franklin with a bursitis in my knee. I went home, saw a physical therapist who found and corrected a skeletal issue.

I climbed Mount Katahdin on July 4th of that same summer and started a sobo thru hike attempt. I got to VT-11 / Manchester Center, Vermont, found I had a bad hernia, and had to go home for surgery.

With ~650 miles completed, I decided I was now a section hiker. So, in April of '13, I got on where I had gotten off the previous spring in North Carolina, hiked 675 miles north to James River Footbridge, and went home for a family reunion.

I got back on at the footbridge in ‘14, and limped into Harper's Ferry with excruciating pain in my right leg. I went home to find I had a tibial stress fracture...

Finally, in 2015, I got back on in at VT-11. I started heading south real slow, took lots of zeros, and slowly worked my way up to some bigger miles. I took no painkillers during that section. After 600 miles, I did my first 20, and the next day I hiked into Harper's Ferry for the patch! William Brutus, Mi United States LDog
