    Although the flowers are similar, the shape of the leaf indicates this is probably hobblebush or witch hobble, a type of viburnum . Viburnum is a fairly common native shrub; some types are popular garden plants. Hydrangea is an oriental species (lovely, but non-native) typically planted in gardens.
