Wow! So pink, typically think of these as bright orange. Saw some recently on the trail north of Neels Gap and they had a pinkish tone to them as well, but not as much as these. I have flame azaleas in my backyard, and I'm wondering if its due to the late bloom time in the mountains that determines this beautiful pinkish-orange color. Mine bloom in late April after most the other azaleas, but are typical orange and not as much of a flourescent-colored tone.

I think the bloom color is due more to genetics than environment, as you will see different colored bushes near each other.

We saw a bunch of different colored azaleas through the Stecoahs a few weeks ago, along with a lot of mountain laurel and only one or two rhododendron.
