McAfee Knob

I can only hope that I get to pass by on such a nice day next month!

Just an absolutely gorgeous photograph of one of my Top Ten Scenic Places on the Appalachian Trail. This is how I imagined McAfee Knob looked on a clear day when I was there on a hazy Tuesday, June 12, 2001. Thanks for sharing it.

One of the best I've seen. It was cloudy and overcast when We came through and on top of that my camera battery had died. Bummer!

Exellent shot! That may be the clearest I\'ve seen it from McAffee. It seems that it is always a bit hazy in this area.

I ended up summiting from the north on a perfect October afternoon last year. I was going to stop at the Campbell Shelter just to the north (I had started from US-220 in Daleville early that morning) but the weather was so nice that I didn\'t want to risk clouds moving in, so I headed up and stayed at the lovely Catawba Shelter for the night. I wish I had remembered to take a picture from this unique angle.
