Hiked from Amicalola to Springer. As opposed to starting at Springer Mountain IMHO - using the approach trail is a better measure if you're ready for a thru-hike. It's a tough climb but at least if you change your mind it's downhill to the park entrance. If you start from Springer Mountain you'll have a downhill hike for 4 miles ... some folks can't hike themselves out of a 4 mile uphill when they realize that the thru-hike is not what they expected.
