Description for Thomas Knob Shelter

This was what I awoke to on 3-30-03 at Thomas Knob. Everyone in the shelter had at least an inch of snow on top of them, the wind was blowing about 30 mph and the temperature was 22 degrees.

Last winter we woke up to the same conditions at Thomas Knob! 12 degrees and 6 inches of snow in the morning. We actually woke up in the middle of the night because snow was hitting us in the face. We set up our tent, inside the shelter (free-standing), and went back to sleep. This kept us dry. No one was in the shelter other than us, so it was no big deal.

Would you believe that some people take this as reason not to go hiking. There are some strange people out there.
