05/20/06 It was the first time out with the hammocks and there was plenty of rain in the forecast (so of course the weatherman was right for a change).
I was unsure about the coverage the 8 x 8 gave my Explorer Ultra light, so I also carried the stock tarp and pitched them both.
Everything stayed dry the whole weekend. Of course so did my wife and all her gear in her Ultra light Backpacker with the stock tarp only!
Since this trip I have purchased a MacCat Deluxe, recommended by one of the guys at JRB as one of the best tarps for covering the larger hammock. My wife now uses the 8x8 for her smaller hammock.
