WAY out of shape. I live an hour south of springer. Planning on getting a lot of real world miles under my feet before march. Damn all this gear is expensive.
Trail name is "Critter" . I am doing my best to go ultra light. Got a long way to go. Took a job at the hike-inn on the approach trail inside amicalola park. I have picked up a lot of gear from hikers that just dumped stuff. Who leaves a jet boil stove behind? I guess the same guy that brings a half gallon of jim beam still in its original glass container.

Congratulations, Critter, for getting the perfect job to meet your needs gear and fitness-wise. Liked your humor too.
You never know just what you can do until you realize you absolutely have to do it.

Approach Trail - not only no, but hell no - been there, done that, ain't putting myself through that again..
Done section hikes - some sections several times - from Springer up into the Smokies
Attempted a thru in '07 but screwed my knees up going up Shuckstack and got as far as Clingman's. Don't know if I will be doing a thru in 2013 but if I can get enough Brownie Points piled up and get permission from The Wife, I might extend my couple of weeks sectioning... who knows?

    Def. doin the approach trail.

Just committed a few weeks ago. I'm graduating in December, and the plan was to go traveling in the Spring, but I figured I'm not gonna get many more chances to do something of this nature in the future. Any Phishhead/Deadhead thru hikers holla my way

No given trail name but friends call me Boomis.
    Springer to Katahdin.
March 1st sounds good but flexible.
    Approach trail is a yes.

2013. Making it real, making it happen. No more excuses, no more dreaming. The time is right for this much needed experience.
