Default Help Support Trail Recovery From Fire Damage

    Hey y'all,

As an up and coming Thru-Hiker (soooooo stoked), I feel as if I should do what I can to help support the efforts by the Conservancy to maintain a safe trail for so many of us to enjoy! Check out my booster page (https://www.booster.com/rebuildthetrail) and help support my cause. All the profits are sent directly to the Conservancy via booster, so no need to worry about self profit. Come help take a stand and also pick up a sweet T-Shirt. Also check out my Thru-Hike videos on YouTube @Big Red on the Road.

No offense, but donations direct to the ATC get there 100% with nothing being skimmed for a "service fee" by booster.

How much of the $20 goes to the ATC?

Roughly $12 per shirt sold goes to the ATC, but the more that are sold, the more that is donated per sale, and I appreciate that some people may choose to donate directly but more people are motivated to donate when there is an incentive, like a t-shirt.

That's more than I expected. I was honestly expecting you to say $5 or less.

    Good luck with your campaign!

Most of the reviews on the following site are not good:

Donate directly. No reason for anyone to profit off this tragedy.

That said, I am far more concerned about assisting(financially) the humans that have been affected by the tragedy to get past the initial months before insurance and federal aid flows in. Not everyone whose home burnt was wealthy. Not everyone who died was wealthy or had life insurance. Not everyone who was injured had health insurance. People are suddenly without a job or hope of one.

The trail will, except for clearing downed trees from the trail itself, repair itself. For the most part. That is how fire, forests and nature work. There won't be much tree planting. These fires were, unfortunately, long overdue. The fuel load was tremendous. The fire was intense, with crowning and jumping. And, the area has a history of immense fires. Don't believe me? Then why do you think you are constantly running into fire towers in NC and TN on the AT? And that is just on the AT. There are plenty of other towers not on the AT. Who hasn't seen evidence of lightening strikes and lightening strike fires on the AT? It is nature, at work.

Rant over. My opinion is always, "Help humans first." To ignore human suffering and focus on trees or the AT is....a bit selfish IMHO. At least at this time in space....YMMV.

And, yes. At least one fire was human caused. There was more than one fire. And what does it matter what the cause was? Innocent people's lived were lost, harmed and/or destroyed by the fires. That's the bottom line to me. The trail will, for the most part, take care of itself...no shelters were lost...I don't even know if any blazes were lost or any signage....

My question, is the ATC logo copyrighted (I would imagine it is) and did you have permission to use it for the t-shirts?
