I remember your clear gentle and oh-so-helpful video of a gear shakedown with a young man and his mother, in which you allayed so many of the mother's fears while greatly helping the over-loaded kid.

Been on your page for over an hour now and still have SO much to read! One question though, what's "liquid copper"? You reference it when talking about Hot Springs.

Probably means beer. In the 80's and early 90's beer was not to be had along the NC section of trail since it passed through "dry" towns and counties. Hard liquor is still banned but due to popular demand, they eventually allowed beer to be served in restaurants in tourist towns.
