Default Lamzac better than a hammock?

I want one...unfortunately they are sold out at the moment. But you can give them your email address and they'll email you when they have more in stock.

what a sweet, novel, brilliant idea. I want Zpacks to make this out of cuben -- with down sewn into the top surface to act as an underquilt, and a heavier cuben for the bottom ground layer.

looks great for an afternoon nap but I can see myself falling off one.
It took me a long time to train myself not to fall off my 1-2" mats...
Could be a problem getting enough bottom insulation.
A mat will not fit (well, it doesn't look like it could) and of course down or synth squashed does not help much at all.

Not better than a hammock at all, IMO.
I do wonder if it would make a good sled across leaf litter on a slope? Or snow? It looks like it might. Or how well it stands up to sticks, thorns, rocks, etc... For certain applications, it seems pretty cool though.

What's more of a security blanket than sleeping inside/on a giant vulva? just don't fall in.
Is there a vagina dentata option?

Nice novelty, but not practical. Would be very cold once temps dropped

Funniest shart I've heard this week.

I heard the Lamzac creator was inspired by his naked GF. Is Lamzac Dutch for vagina?

The Dutch creative lifestyle has given us another possible goodie. Possible blow up cheap dorm furniture that easily transitions into other uses.

It is funny because "lamzac" in Dutch is best translated as "lazy ass" in English. Maybe we are looking at this all wrong....

You just put a pad on it when it's that time of the year.

    From the Q&A :
.Q: What is the size and weight of the Lamzac Hangout?

    A: The Hangout weighs 1.2 kg (2.7 lbs). The folded dimensions are (diameter x length) 18 cm x 35 cm (7 inch x 13.8 inch). The unfolded dimensions are (length x width) 200 cm x 90 cm (6.5 ft x 3 ft).

Mind you, it isn't aimed at the backpacking crowd, it is designed for the beach /open air events and the backyard.

Just got an email update from this company saying that they are now available for shipping...the US cost is $69.95 plus shipping which comes out to about $90, which is cheaper than I had originally thought they would be but I think this has something to do with the currency exchange...I was originally thinking the price would be about twice that.

Few folks on Hammock forums are making their own versions if you're interested.

Always, having wt of gear playing a high priority for backpacking I too wanted to know the wt. 1.2 lb or 42 oz or 2 lbs 10 oz. Seems NOT like a heavy hammock alternative that could have some very real issues used extensively in a backpacking situation. Plenty of nice complete hammock systems, including a sizable overhead coverage tarp, bug coverage, etc at or under the 1.2 kg wt of just a Lamzac that is just a bed without any of those possible critical gear pieces. Seems great for a day in the park where trees are unavailable or possibly a car camping relaxing chair/bed in nice weather at a more affordable price than a complete hammock set up. Heck, an ENO hammock can be had for $30 US dollars without netting or foul weather coverage.

Just thought I'd update this...looks like there are now clones on the market (or possibly licensed copies)...if you search on Amazon you'll see many different brand names of these...I found one for $20 including shipping:
