FromThe biggest issue was having hikers sleep (and whatever) in the same (hello?) building as city hall, with access to other parts of the building. That’s a good reason.

It did say that some hikers misbehaved but did not link that to the closure.
We have to stop tareing down our fellow and future thru hikers. We are our worst enemy.
The simple fact is they trusted and was comfortable to take a very high risk with allowing hikers to stay unattended where many public records were stored. They took it to the extreme with us but in the days of privacy and security it had to end. It was a great honor to us for hosting us so long. Which is in itself a testament to the goodness of the hikers.
