Default Tent Camping Spots Between Woody Gap & Unicoi Gap

Planning a section trip this weekend with my son. Will arrive late afternoon Friday at Woody to start. Lance Creek looks ideal for the first night but not sure about Saturday night or Sunday if we do not finish before then. Any suggestions?

Not sure about how much mileage you're after but if you continue north after Lance Creek, Bull Gap just past Neel Gap is a good camp. If you do that, I'd water up at Neel Gap/Mountain Crossings at their spigot. I've never found the documented water at Bull Gap.

Wolf Laurel Top would be nice too. I have always wanted to camp there, but never have. It's pretty (has a view). I'd probably water up at Neel for that too. There is a spring just before at Swaim Gap but last time I was there...it was not that great. You could dig it out and wait and filter, but I'd just tote from Neel.

Next night (Sunday), possibly Low Gap shelter or Blue Mountain shelter. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks Chris. I believe I also saw someone else mention in another post about Wolf Laurel Top. I was actually hoping to scale down the mileage this trip and " take it easy" with the holiday weekend. In Previous trips we were always under the gun to make miles for pickup but this time we are hiking to the car.

Thinking of doing Woody to Hogpen this weekend myself.

Cool! I probably won't be able to hit the trail until after 5pm due to my son's school and living over 2 hours away.

Bull Gap is a great campsite. The water source is to the "west" of the trail down maybe 1/10 mile.

Hmm, Bull Gap or push on to Wolf Laurel Top..... I guess when we hit Bull Gap we will decide then. It should be fairly early in the day depending on how much time Blood Mtn and Neel's Gap take.
