I've finally retired my 13 year old twist-lock Lekis. They got bent up on the LT last month and I wasn't able to straighten them properly. I don't feel right exercising the "lifetime guarantee" on these things. They owe me nothing.

I never had a problem with mine, but they were heavy. I am one of the few that likes them with the shock absorber option, and I never had a problem with those, either. When I went looking for new poles with twistlocks and shock absorbers, I couldn't find any that were lightweight, so I skeptically switch to the latch style. Luckily, those have also served me well.
Good to know. If I switch, it's your fault. Grinning.

Well, then my insurance to your good luck would be to suggest getting the Black Diamond Distance Carbon FLZ poles, 12-13 ounces, depending upon length.
Buying those will depend on which tent I buy.
I'm still not convinced that carbon poles would have survived my one near catastrophic need for trekking poles.
Pondering.
