Recently a ranger from the NPS visited the McAfee Knob area of the AT as requested from the local trail club to help with the many violations that have been occurring there for several years and to help educate those visiting that area. He issued citations to some college students from VT. They were caught camping on top at the knob, as many of you know, camping there is illegal...they also had built a fire on the flat rocks located there. In addition they were also cited for having alcohol. In case you didn't know alcohol is now banned from that area. In the past many people were leaving ALOT of empty bottles and cans at their campsites thus the alcohol ban was put in place just this year. A new task force and two ridge runners have done a very good job teaching others LNT and helping police and maintain the trail.
