It seems the pronunciation depends on where you live. I have heard people who live in on the Appalachian mountain range pronounce it like they did. That makes me wonder...is it a geographic pronunciation? Or, could it be an education-based pronunciation?

Grizzly bears? I'm always surprised when movie makers spend millions of dollars to make a move and can't be bothered to get details like that correct. I understand it is fiction and adjusting reality sometimes is necessary to make a plot work, but it would have made no difference to have the correct bears.

At the end of the trailer it says the movie is going to be released Labor Day weekend instead of Thanksgiving-Christmas. Sept is considered a dump month in the movie biz but you never know it could be a big hit. I liked the trailer and I'm going to go see it.

It looks great. I've been a fan of Redford's since The Milagro Bean Field War. And Bryson is a great travel writer -- I think that I've read all that he's published (his books on Shakespeare and "home" ain't too shabby, either!) Can't wait to see it!

Also, the trailer implies that they hiked to Virginia before driving. In the book they only got as far as Newfound gap in the Smokies.

At first glance I thought the same thing, but on closer look it appears they used Cinnamon colored western Black Bears. I know what you mean though, I was traumatized when Hollywood made a movie about 'Andre the Seal' (a Harbor seal) and they cast the role with a Sea Lion. Really? Had to walk out of the theater

Just watched the trailer for the movie adaptation of Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods."

I've read the book many times, and I will admit I like it. The trailer was very funny - Redford and Nolte as Bryson and Katz are a good combination.

I will see it...

The trailer is absolutely hilarious! I'm gonna see this movie if I possibly can.. if it ever makes it to my neck of the woods!

I'm looking forward to it. One little detail which differs from the book: the trailor shows them in a shelter when they realized they hadn't hiked very far whereas in the book, they were in a shop in Gatlinburg.

There's going to be a lot of things that differ from the book and I'm sure some things that don't depict the AT too accurately, but that's what you gotta do when doing comedy. And the only way to make this movie a big seller is the comedic approach.

Seems (from the trailer) they did good.
