I was afraid that Redford and Nolte were too old to play Bryson and Katz but I may be proved wrong. It does look like it will be pretty good if the trailer is any indication.

    Very cool.
I'm glad they finally made "A Walk in the Woods" into a movie!

I guess we should expect a dramatic spike in Spring 2016 Appalachian Trail thru-hike attempts.
And likely a very big drop in completion percentage.

I think the key is "based on the book". So the script can then be tailored anyway they want to maximize the bucks. Probably they will have to back off Katz chucking things in the woods as its not LNT. Add in some recognizable female actresses to expand the potential demographic. Cut way back on the boring stuff like hiking.

I see that REI wasn't shy about working in product placements, not necessarily a bad thing, maybe it will encourage a few folks to get help from an outfitter before hitting the trail.

In the trailer, Bryson/Redford is seen going into an REI for his gear whereas in the book, he stocked up at an independent outfitter in Hanover.

    Wrong.

    It is pronounced appa-la-chin trail.

The appa-la-chin mountains were named after the appa-la-chee indians, that ranged as far south as appa-la-chicola florida, also named after them. This was because hernando de soto mistakenly assumed they were the native culture of the southeastern indians.

All I know about grits is that it is something Flo told people to kiss. I have been to scared to ask for a clarification. Whatever it is, it can't be good.

From the trailer I thought it was the side trail by Charlie's bunion in GSMNP but that still shot makes me think not.

Peak hiking season. I imagine that's the key to the timing.

Looks promising. I'm excited to see what they have done with it.
