Default Downsizing??? Here's a cute little house I found near the "Humps"

As a Real estate Broker/Investor I'm always hunting properties. This HUD foreclosure is @ 1 mile from where the trail crosses US 19 near Mountain Harbour. It's a 2 bdrm 1 bath room, not good for a hostel, but nice for someone wanting the shed that over-sized house, move closer to the trail & slow your pace of life down. I'd look at it but my plan is still 8-10 years away.

Needs a lot of work but wonder if it could be turned into a rental?

Neato location. For 21 years I lived in a ridgetop tipi a few miles northeast of that house off Highway 321 near Watauga Lake. I believe the AT crossing on US 19E gets alot of vandalism and broken windows and burned out cars?? At least it used to.

Yeah I figured for $50,000, it might be what someone on here is looking for. I agree, it could be a nice rental,(vrbo or airbnb) then the owner could use it as they please & if they like it enough they could retire there. It's pretty neat that you can walk to the AT from there. I have enough homes for now in KY but if I was into long distance land lording, I'd take a look.
